PokerStars Million Dollar Challenge en statement Full Tilt

Waar we in de eerste aflevering van de PokerStars Million Dollar Challenge een priester met $100.000 naar huis zagen gaan, was het vandaag de beurt aan Sergeant Denny Luna. In de eerste ronde spelen deelnemers doorgaans tegen beroemdheden. Zo ook Denny Luna; hij worstelde zich zonder problemen langs “Playmate of the Year 2008” Jayde Nicole. Dit leverde hem een PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Package op en een plaats in ronde twee.

In die tweede ronde wachtte Chris Moneymaker, de WSOP Main Event winnaar van 2003. Ook deze uitzending kreeg de deelnemer steun van Daniel Negreanu, die in een afgesloten ruimte de holecards van Denny Luna kon bekijken. Ook mocht Negreanu tips doorgeven, die Luna opving via zijn oortelefoon. Chris Moneymaker mocht echter twee keer gebruik maken van radio stilte, iets wat dan ook gebeurde in de beslissende hand van de heads-up.

Als Luna preflop callt met K-4, besluit Moneymaker te checken met 6-2. De flop geeft beide heren 9JA, waarna er naar de turn toe gecheckt wordt. Negreanu besluit nu te adviseren om de halve pot te betten, iets wat Luna dan ook doet. Plotseling drukt Moneymaker op de “Dome of Silence” knop, die hem radiostilte tussen Luna en zijn coach verschaft. Moneymaker raist naar 5.500 , waarna Luna callt met slechts K high. De river geeft beide heren nog een boer, waarna Moneymaker er nog een 5.500 bluff uit gooit. Luna snapcallt de pro en wint een pot die Moneymaker niet meer te boven komt. Luttele minuten later gaan Moneymaker’s laatste chips naar het midden met medium pair tegen het overpair van Denny Luna.
Als Luna de keuze krijgt om door te spelen of naar huis te gaan met $25.000 kiest hij voor het laatste. Luna zegt het niet te kunnen maken voor zoveel geld de gok te nemen ten opzichte van zijn vrouw en kinderen. Daar valt natuurlijk iets voor te zeggen.

Full Tilt Poker brengt statement naar buiten

Eerder berichtten wij over de aanklacht die Lary Kennedy en Greg Omotoy hadden ingediend. De twee voormalig FTP-spelers haalden de room voor het gerecht om de $80,000 die FTP de spelers afnam terug te vorderen. Ook beschuldigden de heren Full Tilt Poker van het gebruik van bots en vele andere illegale praktijken. Zij zetten Full Tilt Poker neer als een grote malafide onderneming en claimden te kunnen bewijzen dat Full Tilt deugt van geen kant. Nu, ongeveer twee weken later, komt Full Tilt Poker zelf met een statement waarin het tekst en uitleg geeft:

“Full Tilt Poker has been made aware of the recent filing of a baseless lawsuit by former Full Tilt Poker customers -- Ms. Lary Kennedy and Mr. Greg Omotoy. Both of these player accounts were appropriately terminated for multiple violations of the express terms and conditions governing fair and lawful play in the Full Tilt Poker online virtual cardroom, including their own admissions of using multiple accounts. The usage of multiple accounts not only violates the clear terms and agreements governing fair and lawful play, it creates an unequal and unfair advantage that Full Tilt Poker does not and will not permit. We aim to protect our players at all cost, thus we terminated these two claimants’ accounts.

The claims of these former customers have no merit, their complaint is frivolous, especially given the lack of candor during extensive investigation and the unequivocal and unambiguous admissions of using multiple accounts. With respect to alleged use of prohibited automated systems, the claimants’ false assertions will be revealed as such in due course. Full Tilt Poker has never knowingly allowed "bots" to play on its site. To the extent either of these claimants indeed used such prohibited “bots” in violation of all applicable rules, such impermissible use by the claimants was without the knowledge of Full Tilt Poker. When fraud, collusion, and cheating of any kind is uncovered, Full Tilt Poker investigates extensively, and then acts accordingly and appropriately, as was the case involving these claimants.
As always, Full Tilt Poker remains committed to protecting their players from anything that might compromise the integrity of its games. Full Tilt Poker expects that this erroneous lawsuit and its spurious claims will be dealt with accordingly by proper courts of law and other appropriate tribunals. Full Tilt Poker expects that these claimants will be obliged to compensate the aggrieved defendants for any harm that may arise out of their false allegations, and for the wrongful institution of these bad faith legal proceedings.”
