Vandaag nieuws over de World Poker Tour Lucky Hearts Poker Open waar weer geen dame werd gekroond tot kampioene, geven diverse pro's hun mening over het nieuwe WSOP schema, en de WPT gaat een samenwerking aan om een grotere presence te krijgen in Georgië.

Nog steeds geen vrouwelijke WPT kampioen
De World Poker Tour Lucky Hearts Poker Open was gigantisch met maar liefst 1.027 entries en een prijzenpot van $3,2 miljoen. Gister vond de ontknoping plaats in het Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Aan de finaletafel was onder andere Kelly Minkin te vinden, een 27 jarige pokerspeelster uit Arizona. Ze was al eens runner up geworden in het 2013 Arizona State Poker Championship voor $151.983, maar nu kon ze nog een veel grote bedrag pakken én de eerste vrouwelijke WPT kampioen worden.
Uiteindelijk kwam die droom voor haar niet uit. Met nog drie spelers over schoof ze haar laatste 16 big blinds naar het midden met pocket negens. De uiteindelijke winnaar Brian Altman maakte de call met pocket vieren. Altman flopte een open ended en maakte die op de river, waarmee Minkin's geturnde set negens waardeloos was.
Een gigantische cooler heads up maakte niet veel later een einde aan het toernooi. Altman flopte de nutflush met 
op 
en zijn tegenstander Mark Dube had 
voor topset. De chips gingen naar het midden en het board pairede niet.

Wat vinden de pro's van het nieuwe WSOP schema?
Vorige maand publiceerden we op PokerNews het WSOP schema met links naar structuren en alle opmerkelijke toernooien uitgelicht.
Hoewel het andermaal een spektakel belooft te gaan worden in Las Vegas, is het niet aannemelijk dat er veel Nederlanders richting Amerika gaan om een volledig programma te spelen. Met de Nederlandse belastingregels is het immers bijna onmogelijk om winstgevend toernooien buiten de Europese Unie te spelen.
Maar pro's uit Amerika zitten natuurlijk wel al likkebaardend hun schema op te stellen. PokerNews.com vroeg diverse spelers naar hun mening over het nieuwe WSOP programma. Auteur Chad Holloway vroeg specifiek naar hun gedachten over het online event waar tevens een bracelet mee te verdienen valt dit jaar:
Dan O'Brien: "I think the schedule is laid out beautifully with an exciting event seemingly always around the corner to look forward to. Even more than that, I think the starting stack increases in the smaller buy-in events are a tremendous improvement and allows for a lot more play in the first hours of the event."
Trevor Pope: "The thing I like least about the schedule is this $500 event they decided to toss into the mix. The WSOP is a zoo as is, and the registration lines for this small of a tournament buy-in are just going to be insane and a huge headache to deal with. I may consider just skipping it and buying a bunch of sweats in it from others looking to play because the thought of playing two days and min-cashing for $700-$800 is quite tilting."
Greg Raymer: "I'm probably not going to play, but I'm fine with it. I'm sure there are some people out there that think it's not the World Series, that the World Series is face to face and all that kind of stuff, but I don't see the big deal. I guess just the heads-up is going to be live. Personally, I would have done the whole final table or none of it in person, but at least this way though they guarantee someone isn't ghosting someone else's account all the way to victory."
Matt Glantz: "I feel that anything that can grow the WSOP and grow the interest in poker is good for everyone. If a bracelet helps toward that goal, I am all for it. I might play the online event, but hopefully I am deep in a live event when that one comes up and won't have that choice."

WPT gaat samenwerking met Europe-Bet.com aan
De World Poker Tour heeft de afgelopen maanden niet stil gezeten. Eerst werd er al een samenwerking met Hublot aangekondigd en niet veel later gingen ze een partnership met het netwerk Ourgame aan voor expansie in Azië. Gister kondigden ze daar bovenop nog eens een samenwerking met Europe-Bet.com aan om hun aanwezigheid in Georgië te verstevigen.
Maar liefst drie WPT-events gaan er georganiseerd worden in de Georgische hoofdstad Tbilisi. Naast twee WPT-National events zal er ook een volwaardig WPT Main Event gehouden gaan worden.
Europe-Bet.com werd in 2010 opgericht en is de grootste Georgische onafhankelijke aanbieder in de gereguleerde online gaming markt in het land. Naast de nieuwe events op de agenda heeft de samenwerking tot gevolg dat Europe-Bet.com de WPT shows in Georgië op televisie kan gaan uitzenden.
WPT President Adam Pliska zei het volgende:
"Following our announcement with Ourgame in Asia, this new arrangement marks the continued expansion of the WPT global licensing initiative, expanding the tour like never before. Europe-Bet.com is committed to the long-term growth of poker in Georgia and beyond, and by working alongside Mr. Fleiderman and his team, the World Poker Tour has an opportunity to expand its footprint in Europe. We are thrilled to kick off this partnership with a $200,000 guaranteed WPT National event in June, and look forward to sharing the WPT experience with everyone associated with the spectacular Europe-Bet.com Poker Club."
Nicolas Fleiderman, CEO van Europe-Bet.com, voegde daar nog het volgende aan toe:
"We continue to strive to maintain our brand positioning, not only as the undisputed market leader in Georgia, but also as a globalized operator. Our partnership with World Poker Tour will help us expand our poker penetration at a solid pace. We are excited to host WPT events at our premier poker club, and to showcase our strong online offering."
Het eerste event in Tbilisi zal een $1.100 buy-in WPT-National zijn. Het $200.000 gegarandeerde toernooi zal gehouden worden in de gigantische Europe-Bet.com Poker Club van 4 tot en met 7 juni.
